DESCRIPTION: When performing a right forward roll, stand with your right leg forward, your right arm will guide the roll, tuck your head to the left side and roll over your right shoulder (not over your head).  For the left forward roll, switch your stance and do the reverse.

1. Roll over your right shoulder; your right arm will be a guide, much like the outside of a wheel.  Notice the right hand is tucked in, don't prop it with your palm on the floor.  You may use your left arm to prop as you go into the roll. 2.  As you roll over, begin to tuck your left leg under so that you can come up from the roll easily.  Your left foot will finish so that the top of it will be on the floor as you come up from the roll.
3.  Notice the tucked left leg, also don't prop with your hands as you come up.  Use your momentum forward to come up from the roll.  Propping a hand will get you kicked or punched in the face, because your defending hand will be busy helping yourself up. 4.  As you come completely up to a standing position, be prepared to defend yourself.  Hands are up and you are aware of your surroundings.
